Providing QA/QC for the annual water quality report and handling citizen and media inquiries when water quality is an issue/concern.
Providing oversight of all aspects of water quality for the County's drinking water, including documenting regulatory requirements, maintaining a working partnership with the US Corps of Engineers (our water supplier), and regular water sampling and adjustments.
Serving as the Arlington County representative to the Aqueduct's technical staff committee because of it's both engineering and strategic nature.

This is a senior engineer level position with extensive technical expertise in roadway construction, utility planning, operations and management (which is all aspects of WSS work). The work units include: engineering planning and design work, operational technical oversight, records management, and the Construction Management Group. The Chief Support Engineer manages both operational and planning/design functions that support the WSS Bureau. The Engineering Support Section creates Master Plans for water, sewer and street infrastructure and helps to implement them through the approved Capital Improvement Program (CIP) process which involves a continuous cycle of planning, design, updating and execution of the $25-$30 million per year portfolio of CIP projects for WSS. The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking a Chief Support Engineer for it's Engineering Support Section within the Water, Sewer, and Streets (WSS) Bureau to provide strategic and operational oversight and support to the bureau.
